South luangwa

LEOPARDS, WILD DOGS AND THE LUANGWA VALLEY

South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations. Famous for its leopards, wild dogs and thriving wildlife populations, it offers an authentic safari experience in a landscape shaped by the Luangwa River and its seasonal floodplains.

Our safari is based in the Mfuwe region of South Luangwa National Park, giving us access to some of Zambia’s finest wildlife viewing. From elephants feeding along the Luangwa River to Thornicroft’s giraffes moving through the woodland, this is a landscape full of wildlife at every turn.

We’ll spend our days exploring a variety of habitats in search of leopards, lions, wild dogs and the many other species that call South Luangwa home. With excellent guiding, diverse wildlife and over 400 bird species, every drive brings new opportunities for observation and photography.

South Luangwa rewards those who spend time in the field. With multiple days exploring the Mfuwe region, we can revisit productive wildlife areas, follow developing animal movements and make the most of changing conditions throughout the safari.

Whether watching elephants along the Luangwa River, spending time with a leopard sighting or enjoying the park’s rich birdlife, every day offers new opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

South Luangwa offers exceptional opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. From predators and elephants to colourful birdlife and life along the Luangwa River, every day brings something different.

“pristine wildernes”

“The Bobby-Jo safari experience in South Luangwa, is one of my favourites. South Luangwa National Park has pristine wilderness, diverse ecosystems, and incredible wildlife sightings.

A Bobby-Jo safari promises an authentic and awe-inspiring journey through untamed landscapes, close encounters with remarkable wildlife, and a deep connection to the natural world.

You will encounter the complete range of African animals including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of antelope species.

One of the highlights of Bobby-Jo South Luangwa safaris is the opportunity for night drives. These drives give you a chance to see nocturnal animals, such as leopards, hyenas, genets, and owls, as well as experience the park’s unique atmosphere under the stars.

Bobby-Jo’s expertise together with her team of local guides enhances the experience by providing insights into animal behaviour, tracking skills, and conservation efforts.

The Luangwa River meanders through the park, creating a lush and vibrant ecosystem that attracts a wide array of wildlife throughout the year. The river’s oxbow lagoons, floodplains, woodlands, and open plains provide a stunning landscape backdrop.”
