GREAT APES, SHOEBILLS AND WILD UGANDA
Journey through Uganda’s misty forests, wildlife rich savannahs and winding wetlands on an intimate photographic safari limited to just six guests. Track wild chimpanzees and mountain gorillas, cruise the Kazinga Channel, and search for the legendary Shoebill Stork in Mabamba Swamp on this unforgettable journey through the Pearl of Africa.
Your Ugandan adventure begins in the tranquil wetlands of Mabamba Swamp, one of the best places in Africa to search for the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill stork. Travelling quietly through narrow papyrus channels by motorised canoe, we will explore this remarkable ecosystem while keeping an eye out for a rich variety of birdlife and wetland wildlife.
With both morning and afternoon excursions on the water, this experience offers excellent opportunities for photography and a chance to slow down and truly absorb the atmosphere of Uganda’s wetlands. Seeing a Shoebill emerge from the reeds is a moment few wildlife experiences can rival.

Journey into the lush rainforests of Kibale National Park, one of Africa’s best destinations for tracking wild chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced local trackers, we will walk beneath the forest canopy in search of the Kanyantale chimpanzee community while surrounded by the sounds of birds, rustling leaves and distant pant hoots echoing through the trees.
Our time in Kibale also includes exploring the beautiful Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, home to colourful birdlife, monkeys and rich rainforest ecosystems that offer fantastic opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.
Explore the diverse landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where open savannah plains, acacia woodland and the wildlife-rich Kazinga Channel Kazinga Channel create one of Uganda’s most rewarding safari destinations. Here we search for lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and a variety of other wildlife while enjoying both game drives and a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel.
From hippos and crocodiles to spectacular birdlife and elephants gathering at the water’s edge, this region offers incredible wildlife encounters and fantastic photographic opportunities throughout our stay.

A true highlight of this safari is the opportunity to experience not one, but two unforgettable mountain gorilla encounters in two completely different environments.
In Mgahinga National Park, we trek through bamboo forest and volcanic landscapes in search of the famous Nyakagezi gorilla family, while Bwindi Impenetrable Forest offers a dramatically different experience amongst dense rainforest and mist covered mountains.
Spending time face to face with wild mountain gorillas is one of the most moving wildlife experiences on Earth and a moment that stays with you forever.

Behind the Scenes
“Totally unexpected – massive mountains, forests and lakes. Prehistoric animals like the Shoebill. Not what you would expect from Africa. My most beautiful memory other than leaving a totally unique experience with the wild gorillas, we came across the Ankole cattle. Bobby-Jo with perception and ability to connect with people, had us mingling with these beautiful cattle and wandering amongst them. Just amazing to immerse yourself amongst this herd, listening to the soft clunking of their magnificent massive horns. These nomadic people offered us fresh milk and were so happy to share a glimpse into their life- so natural and spontaneous. Love Bobby-Jo’s tours, just a natural down to earth experience which gives exposure to the real.”

“Uganda is a remarkable wildlife destination. Not only is it home to the great apes, but you can also photograph iconic African wildlife including elephants, lions and giraffe. Add the phenomenal birdlife and the legendary Shoebill Stork, and it becomes one of Africa’s most rewarding photographic safaris.”
